Water Heating - Direct Contact

Direct Contact Water Heater

Up to 99.7% efficiency!

Most gas fired heaters and boilers send 20% or more of their consumed energy out of the exhaust stack. This means that with every dollar spent on energy, the boiler system may only return 65 to 70 cents worth of useful heat after transmission losses. The Direct Contact Water Heater can provide up to 99.7 cents in every dollar.

  • Reduce water heating costs 35% - 40%
  • Instant & continuous hot water
  • Precise water temperature
  • Reduce maintenance labor
  • Non-pressure vessel
  • Small footprint
  • USDA, FDA, CSA, UL & NSF approved
  • Low NOx available
  • Stack temperature below 70ºF
  • Stainless steel construction
  • Potable water
  • Reduced oxygen in heated water reduces corrosion

How it Operates

Water enters the heater at the top, and through a spray nozzle is distributed over the stainless steel heat transfer media. Water droplets are then preheated through the media before they come into direct contact with a jet style flame.

Here in the combustion zone, the heat transfer to the final temperature occurs as the preheated water comes into direct contact with the flame, and the completion of the heat transfer occurs before the water settles in the storage area.

Finally, the hot water is either pumped or gravity fed into a hot water storage tank or directly to the process.
